Another wine and chocolate pairing — because wine not?
It's time to wine down for this Tasting Thursday. This week, we try a red wine blend from Old North State Winery in Mount Airy, NC with some toffee from French Broad Chocolate in Asheville, NC.
This red table wine is an easy drinker — lingering on the palate just enough to be memorable, but not so much that it overpowers your meal (hence "table wine"). The wine is made with a blend of Malbec, Tannat, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that is perfectly fruity.
We paired it with the toffee with dark chocolate and almonds. The crunchy, buttery toffee is satisfying and delicious, and the dark chocolate makes this the perfect pairing for our red wine.
