12 Gates Brewing Company opened its doors in Williamsville, N.Y. in 2015. Today, the brewery produces nearly 2,000 barrels annually and operates a 30-barrel brewhouse and a taproom.
The brewery needed brewery management software to manage inventory, production, accounting and sales. 12 Gates Brewing Company was previously using another software provider but found it to be too complex and difficult to use. Tom Kirchmeyer, co-founder, did extensive research and talked to his peers and eventually settled on Ekos because it was simple, intuitive, and had the capabilities needed to run the brewery effectively. “Oh, and the cost savings were significant jumping to Ekos from our other software provider,” Tom added.

With Ekos, we have a better understanding of our entire operation which will hopefully lead us to become a more profitable business,” said Tom. Since implementing Ekos, the team has also recognized time savings, specifically when it comes to reconciliation and manual entries in accounting their software. With the Ekos – QuickBooks integration, the brewery is saving 15-20 hours per month. “Less time spent on brewery management software due to added efficiencies allows us to concentrate on brewing world-class beer and spending more time on customer service,” Tom said. “Ekos simply makes our job easier.”
