Hot Plate Brewing Co. gets started on the right foot with brewery management software

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (March 8, 2023) — Pittsfield, Massachusetts’ newest brewery is bringing on brewery management software Ekos to develop standardized processes and gain visibility across the business.

Sarah Real and Mike Dell’Aquila opened Hot Plate Brewing Co. in February after years of homebrewing in their Brooklyn condo — on a hot plate. After developing business plans and finding a spot for their brewery, Sarah’s setup has been upgraded to a 7-barrel brewhouse in the heart of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Hot Plate’s founders are using Ekos to keep inventory, production, and other essential data organized as they launch their business. Sarah is still working her day job and brewing on the weekends while Mike runs front-of-house operations, marketing, and outreach efforts. With varied schedules and a lot of information to oversee, Sarah says managing inventory from grains to glass is imperative to their success as a business. Ekos’s inventory and batch management features give the Hot Plate team visibility today and for months ahead as Sarah plans her brews.

While Sarah is an Excel whiz, she knew Hot Plate needed a solution that would work for everyone, no matter whether she was at the brewery.

“I chose Ekos because it allows me to standardize our inventory process and give my future team access to our tools in an easy-to-use platform rather than having them try and decode my Excel,” Sarah said. “I saw Ekos as the additional team member I needed but can’t afford in human form. It’s the assistant brewer, personal assistant, and accountant I need for my business all in one.”

“Hot Plate Brewing’s scrappiness — even years before they opened their doors — exemplifies the excitement and uniqueness of the craft beer world,” Ekos CEO Josh McKinney said. “I’m thrilled Ekos can help this determined team gain the visibility and standard operations that build a strong foundation for success.”

Ekos is the leading brewery management software in the United States and Canada. Its focuses on inventory, production, sales, and accounting give breweries complete visibility into their business, allowing them to spend less time tracking down handwritten notes and deciphering spreadsheets and more time making great beer. The software also boasts powerful integrations with POS, ecommerce, and accounting solutions like Square, Shopify, and QuickBooks.
